Production Process

ACETATE

The process begins with a sheet of cellulose acetate, a material of natural origin mainly composed of cellulose obtained from the cotton plant and wood fibres, this material is worked with great skill to create elegant and long-lasting eyeglass frames, perfect for those looking for one distinctive style and at the same time respectful of the environment. Thanks to its flexible and resistant nature, cellulose acetate allows the designers of the Glassing product department to create light, comfortable and extremely resistant frames. Furthermore, it has the characteristic of being able to be shaped in a wide range of shapes and colours.

The manufacturing process can begin, the acetate sheet is cut into small sections corresponding to the different parts of the glasses,  temples and fronts. The numerically controlled CNC milling machine creates the models with very high precision. Once all the parts of the Glassing sunglasses have been shaped and curved it is time to assemble the frame.
The temples are fixed to the front, the hinges and reinforcements are applied to all parts of the glasses and carefully finished. Finally Glassing acetate sunglasses undergo rigorous quality checks to ensure they meet the high standards required.

METAL

To begin with, the choice of materials is essential to guarantee resistant and long-lasting metal sunglasses. When we talk about high-quality metals, we are referring to stainless steel alloys, titanium and aluminum. These alloys are selected for their corrosion resistance, light weight and flexibility properties which make them ideal for use in quality sunglasses. Once the design is established, we move on to the metalworking phase. Metal sheets are cut to design specifications. It is important to ensure precision and accuracy to maintain a correct and consistent shape for each pair of glasses.

After cutting, the metal pieces are shaped to create the structure of the glasses. Craftsmen use specialized tools to bend and shape the unclean metal into a solid yet comfortable-to-wear structure. Next, finishing steps are performed to improve the look and quality of our sunglasses. Metal frames are sanded to obtain a smooth, shiny surface. Protective coatings may also be applied to further increase the durability and strength of the metal.
